End of Summer
The end of summer is fast approaching and a lot has happened since my last post. Remember my last post about the guy that has an 8 year old daughter? I shall call him the Professor. Well, we're still seeing each other; things are moving along nicely. We still haven't met one another's daughters, which I expect will happen sometime soon. However, this Saturday I will be meeting his bestfriend for the first time. Yes, I will have to pass muster with this guy - we all know how the best friend test goes. The Professor and this guy have been friends for over 40 years. The guy has a boat and will be taking us out on it and then we're all going to dinner. He's bringing his date too. It's been forever since I've gone on a double-date - even typing the word makes me giggle ;o)

Work is work. I have been a bit overwhelmed, but it will pass. It always does. Next year I'm determined not to take on so many projects at once.

I'm still going to the gym although lately it's been harder than usual for both cuzzy and me. We finally figured out why. We're at the 6-month mark, which was when we quit going to the gym the last time. Dude, we didn't go back to the gym for about 2 years! Not wanting that to happen again, we keep each other on track, even if it means going just once a week and not our regular 4 times a week.

On the family front, Johnny is walking now! He's cuter than a bug (takes after his auntie - ha!). My niece Mel (we call her Noon) and her boyfriend, Nick, are over for a visit - all the way from Pennsylvania. She is a senior @ Penn State while Nick graduated this year. They're a cute couple. Man, I can't believe just how grown up she is! It just seems like yesterday she was a little kid doing the happy food dance when she got a piece of candy.

My kiD Mari is doing as well as can be expected; she and her partner recently parted ways. Each day is different; some good, some bad. Right now sadness reigns in her world, but she is moving along and I believe is past the worst of it. The healing process has begun.

In about a month, Stephanie, a girl that cuzzy and I met when we owned an online gaming ladder will be flying out from Arizona to meet us both for the first time! Man! That's something! We've known one another for about 8 years now. She's going to spend the weekend here - we're just gonna keep ourselves completely inebriated the entire time! LOL! I'm kidding; at least 99.9% of the time. We do have our standards.

So that's it, my friends.

What about you; how are things going in your neck of the woods?

When you hear from me next time, I hope that the Professor and I will still be clicking along.

Later.

Happy Birthday Meerie
The day after Christmas my daughter (Mari), mom, and me went to my daughter's and her partner's home so that Mari could feed their dogs and cats. Their front door lock was broken so Mari had to climb over the fence to get to the back door. This was no easy feat. And me, well I didn't even try because I had a big sore on my leg and there was no way I was going to climb over a fence. After about 30 minutes of trying to get into the house which involved Mari trying to climb the fence twice, stepping on dog poop in the process, her and I trying to lift the garage door, all of us scoping out other areas of the fence, we finally got into the house.

How, you ask?

My 71-year old mother climbed over the fence and let us in.

Yeah you read what I wrote. Meerie hopped over the fence.

Mari turned to me and said, "How did she do that?"

Oh and this was on mom's birthday. Happy Birthday Meerie!!

Johnny
I was in Salinas this weekend meeting my nephew Johnny for the first time. I'm smitten; I'm in deep smit. I'm not sure he is a Teddy Wong to me any more. I'm still pondering a nickname for the little guy ;-)

Teddy Wong
My brother and his wife had their first baby. Little John Masaru was born June 16th coming into this world early (due date: July 2nd) at 6 lbs and 20 inches. He has been named after Jennifer's dad and our dad.

I've already nicknamed him Teddy Wong. Love handles is what my family specializes in the most. I haven't met my new nephew yet, but even before he was born I already knew he would be Teddy Wong to me. Mom already calls him that and it's okay with my brother and his wife. Mom said Teddy Wong is a cutie taking after my brother :-)

My brother asked: "When's he going to stop looking like an old man?"

Yesterday mom and I went to Dillard's where I splurged and got Teddy Wong three outfits. Of course one reads "I love my auntie."

Mom took ton of photos but left her camera at my brother's (good goin' mom!). My brother mailed them out to her and as soon as she gets them, I will be posting some photos of Teddy Wong.

I'm confident you will fall in love.

'sup?
Not much goin' on over here except the kid and I went and saw the Broadway version of The Phantom of the Opera here in Sac Town! I couldn't get over how brilliant the costumes were; so bright and colorful. And the sets were out of this world; the designs were so very lavish and clever. The cast was phenomenal!

Before we went to the opera, we went out to Zocalo's for dinner, which was delicious.

What a grand way to spend a Saturday night. I really enjoyed myself. The kid and I met up with my cuzzy and her family at the opera, which was a treat in itself :-)

Other than that, things have been pretty much steady and normal. I am still doing research on where I want to go on my sabbatical with mom. We're thinking Vegas now because of the what happens in Vegas stays there - ha. I'm kidding. But seriously...

Good news: The ulcer on my right eye is completely gone! Yay! I went to the eye doctor today. Next appointment is to the dermatologist to see about getting rid of this acne on my face - it's starting to really bother me!

I went to the health peeps where I work and will hear from them in five days to meet with a health consultant. The kid did the same thing and was blubbering about having her blood taken (she's a dweeb).

Hey Babycakes, I got your message, but when I try to visit your site, I get something really weird - can you re-send me the link to your site please? Thanks (I don't want you to think I'm ignorin' ya's).

Well that's it for now peeps.

Take it ease -xo

Random Stuff
Jodi had her baby yesterday! David came into the world weighing in at 8lbs, 7oz and 20 inches long :-)

Busier than heck at work, but enjoyed myself at our team building event; went on a river cruise and had dinner afterwards.

Eyes are healing.

So far no jury duty; just on call.

I'm doing some research on picking a place to visit during my sabbatical. Mom and I are planning on going somewhere together. I am looking forward to that. Right now I'm thinking maybe Sedona.

Other than the above, I've been kicking it around the apartment with Noodz and Spatz. I've been into crossword puzzles (they can be a bit addictive). I have a few books that I want to crack open and read, but I can't seem to get around to it.

I really need to start at the gym again.

But, what I really want to do is eat, eat, eat!

I'm on to Somethin'
Tonight I went out to dinner with my cousins Jane, Sance, and Jodi.

Jodi is pregnant and we're all waiting for her to have the baby - she's like takin' forever. I mean the babes was due 4/23. Sance flies back home on 4/30 and she's thinkin' the baby will be born after she leaves.

Well here's what I'm thinkin'....We ate Chinese food so maybe that will induce labor. Ha. Hey it's possible. I mean c'mon peeps, we're talkin' Chinese food here. It's been known to cause things such as keeping one up all night, you get hungry again just an hour after eating it! Then what about that thing they say that Chinese food has been known to cause nightmares. See? I'm tellin' ya I am on to something here! Yah.

Three's a Charm...
...or so the saying goes. I bid on my third house today. Cosmetically it needs a lot of work and a couple of other fix-it stuff, but I can do it. I have family that is willing to help me :-) But I am thinking do I really want this house? I am a little nervous about it. With my budget the only houses that I can afford are those that need fixing so I have to stop being so darned picky; otherwise I'll never buy myself a house. Mari and mom are both telling me to wait, but I've been waiting so long. And I ain't getting any younger.

I should just quit worrying about it (I am such a worrier at times) - I don't even have the house yet!

On another note, I took Noodles to the vet today. She is healthy as ever and such a good cat. She is always good at the vet's.

Tomorrow I go to the eye doctor for a check-up on the ulcer on my right eye. At least it is healing!

This Friday, me, Mari, Arron, Jane, Sance, and Jodi are going out to dinner in celebration of mine and Mari's birthdays! I can't wait :-)

Thanks for reading -xo

Sunday, Sunday
Looked at a few houses today and found one that I liked so I'll be submitting an offer. I hope I get the house. It's just perfect for me and my kitties.

I had a nice visit with mom. We talked about all kinds of things today. I really enjoyed my visit.

I'm really tired today because I didn't sleep that well last night. Spatz has this bad habit of waking me up at around 5:30 in the morning ;o) I was going to take a little snap today, but since I spent all day at mom's, I never got the chance. I might go to bed early tonight, but we'll see. I am a night owl and going to bed early is never easy for me.

It's getting hotter - summer is right around the corner. Mom talked about the possibility of her and I heading to Florida to visit Kim when my sabbatical rolls around. I am not sure I want to go, but we'll see - a lot can happen between now and September.

Adieu for now -xo

The Weekend Begins
It is going to be about 80 degrees today and I will be headed to the local park to attend my cousin's baby shower. I'm looking forward to it. I will be taking Fatbird with me :-)

Yesterday I went to see Laura and we had a good session. I felt lots better afterwawrds. Then I went to Nia and got my hair cut. I feel great!

The house hunting is still underway, but I must tell you it's a tad discouraging because I can almost be guaranteed that any offer I put on a house will have anywhere from 3-7 offers on it. I already lost a house :-( Both my mortgage gal and realtor told me that just within the past month the market has changed. There's a lot of investors out there that are literally buying up these homes and leaving homebuyers like me in the dust! Son-of-a!! What-the!!).

But I will continue to forge on because I am ready to get into my own house now.

4th of July
First things first: Going to the gym wasn't so bad, but it was getting my ass there that was a pain. Once I was there, I did 30 minutes on the treadmill + 5 (cool down), then I was going to call it a night and head home. But I felt compelled to do the weight lifting that has always been part of my workout. So I did the weights - granted that I did not do the 3 reps of 15 that I have always done per machine, but did only one rep. I figure it's a good start considering that it's been a month since I last visited the gym.

A good regular workout in my life sure improves not only my body, but my mind and spirit as well. Not only do the boobies get a little lift, the self-confidence gets one hell of a lift!

Today G and I are going to Arron's (Mari's partner) for a 4th of July celebration that she and Mari are hosting. Arron's family is going to be there. Aside from Shay, Arron's sister, I have never met any of Arron's family, so in a way I'm kind of nervous. But that is nothing new - I have never been a social butterfly. I prefer my own company so any social gathering that involves people that I have never met or do not know, causes my nerves to churn a bit. However, G is in his element - he's a social kind of dude. For him it's about new experiences, something he embraces. So he is looking forward to it more than I am.

And this getting out of the apartment will be good for both of us because he and I have been holed up in it for the past three days and we need interaction of others or at the very least a different environment to break up the monotony - we're starting to get on each others' nerves.

We won't be staying late because I have to be at work for a staff meeting that's set to start at 7:30 am.

I'm already getting a headache just thinking about it.

Questions
So I'm wondering...when Noodles goes into her cat box, does she scrunch her little paw-toes so that they hold about a bucket full of litter? I mean the stuff is everywhere!

Does anyone else think Mike Rowe is cute?

Do you have a favorite character on Futurama?

Whose your daddy?

Back, but Dunno for how Long ~
I know that I've been away for a long time. I just haven't been in the mood to blog. I've been preoccupied with other things such as work and having some romance in my life.

Yes, you read correctly; romance.

I am reluctant to talk any more about it because the relationship is so new, I don't wanna jinx it. Ha! Seriously - until the relationship becomes more established, I'll share.

Work is better. I've just recently put myself back on track. For months, I lost the motivation to go to work let alone be happy while I'm there. I was a bit frightened about the lack of motivation because honestly the last thing that I want to feel is dislike for my job. Why? Well I have to say that I like the company that I work for.

Everything is going well on the family front. Mari is now living in the apartment right next door to me! Kinda nice. Although she is rarely home, always spending time with Arron at her house.

Noodles is bratty as ever, but so darned cute that I can't smack her when she is being a brat - I spoil her too much.

Oh and I'm still going to the gym at least 4x's a week. I've lost 35 pounds!

Hood-lah!

The Kid's Back
Mari's back! She has a myspace page again :-)

Gym Update
This space intentionally left blank.

OK, I'm kidding. Things have been going well. Mari has joined Jane and me in our regular visits to the gym. We are workinnnggg it! I'm a bit sore right now, but not as bad as I thought I'd be.

Clean-up - Aisle 10
Well I had to purge some crap out of my FTP folders. I am running out of space! eep! I deleted the web pages/blogs that I had created for my nieces and nephew since they're not using them any more because they discovered myspace.

So cuzzy, you might want to remove the links to their sites from all the blogs that you help maintain. I deleted the blogs of Bran, Morgan and Keanu. Kim still has her site up, but I suspect I'll be deleting that as well - stay tuned.

I really need to clean Noodles' kitty box - I'm about ready to pass out - ha. Lord, I need to borrow a surgical mask. Is there a doctor in the house? Geez, it's only been less than a week since I last changed her box. For a little cat, she sure is tinky!

Heh.
